The Tao of Health: Lung Cancer and Green Tea

This article says that drinking green tea may reduce your risk of getting lung cancer. I drink green tea, but I don’t think I could do five cups a day like the article suggests.

Well, it could be worse. To ward off lung cancer one would think you’d have to inhale it.

Researchers looked at green tea consumption and mortality among 40,530 Japanese men and women between the ages of 40 and 79.They found that drinking green tea reduced participants’ risk of death during the 11-year study period, particularly from cardiovascular disease (CVD), but did not have an impact on cancer death.

The effect was stronger in women, and the more green tea people drank, the greater the protection it offered.

Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal on Monday said his office was investigating claims by Coca-Cola and Nestle that their new drink can burn calories, saying it may amount to “voodoo nutrition.”
